Day 1: Kathmandu to Phakding (2610m) via Lukla.
We have an early start for the dramatic flight through the mountains to Lukla. After lunch, we begin our trek with the short walk to our first night’s lodge accommodation in the village of Phakding.
Day 2: Trek to Namche Bazaar(3440m)
Following the Dudh Kosi Valley upstream, we cross and re-cross the river before making a final steep climb to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar, where we overnight at a lodge.
Day 3: At Namche bazzar.
We spend a rest day at Namche for acclimatisation. There is the option of a day hike to the Sherpa Museum of Culture above Namche and the nearby viewpoint for Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam. We return to spend a second night at our Namche lodge.
Day 4: Trek to Tengboche (3860m)
We continue our trek to Kangjuma, traversing above the Imja Khola and gradually dropping down to cross this river at Phunki Tenga. We then climb up to reach Thyangboche (3860m) located on a ridge below the impressive north face of Kang Taiga (6685m).
Day 5: In Tengboche Monastery
We spend a rest day at Thyangboche. Options include a day hike to Pangboche, the highest permanent settlement in the valley. We will also have plenty of time to visit what is arguably Nepal’s most famous monastery. We have a second night at our lodge in Thyangboche.
Day 6: Trek down to Monjo (2835m)
Today, we start our walk-out from the Khumbu, retracing our steps to Namche and descending as far as the tiny hamlet of Monjo (2835m) at the entrance of the Sagamatha National Park.
Day 7: Trek back to Lukla.
We complete our trek, descending first to Phakding and then making a final short climb up to our lodge accommodation in the airstrip settlement of Lukla.
Day 8: Lukla to Kathmandu
We have an early start for the morning flight back to Kathmandu.The afternoon is free for sightseeing and shopping. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
